Annie Leona Turnquest-Major Age 79 Years of #21 Hillary Avenue, 
Freeport Grand, Bahama departed this life, at her residence on
Monday, August 20, 2001.


She was born at Lower Deadman's Cay, Long Island, The Bahamas on
Tuesday, June 06, 1922 she was the eighth child.


In 1940 Leona met the handsome Lloyd Leroy Major of Turtle Grove, Long Island.
They became life long partners in Holy Matrimony on Tuesday, June 25, 1940.
This union produced thirteen children. Upon the birth of her first child,
they travelled back to Long Island where they settled in Clarence Town.
She later gave birth to two girls.


Bringing up a small family was a task all by itself, so both
parents and their children travelled back to Nassau to seek employment.


In 1946, she was employed with a Greek Restaurant on Bay Street,
while Mr. Major went on the contract scheme. Between 1946 and 1952
she gave birth to three more children, two sons and a daughter. In 1956
she returned to Long Island, where she took on the task of farming, cattle
mining, including being a house wife and good mother.


Annie is preceded in death by her:

Two Daughters: Paulette Bain (Ernest) and Una Kemp (Carl);
Two Adopted Sons: Ephraim and Peter Taylor;
Twenty-Eight Grandchildren: Mavis Culmer, Christine Greene (Michael),
Philip Jr., Tamara, Jermaine, Miguel Sr., Andy, Lavoi, Lavar, Perez, Lloyd III,
Patrell, Sabrina, Ellis Jr., Elvardo, Damante, Sean, Tina, Samantha, Nicola,
Stephen Jr., Andre and Stephanie Major, Carla Kemp, Michelle, Crystal,
Trevor and Michael Bain;
